It has been quite a while since I qualified for a voxbox from Influenster so you can only imagine how excited I was to be chosen for the YSL mascara voxbox campaign!
As part of the campaign I was sent a free tube of YSL's revamped Volume Effect Faux Cils for testing and reviewing purposes. I really, really like mascara so I couldn't wait to try it out.
Overall, I enjoy the product. I feel that it gives me just enough for everyday wear. YSL Mascara Volume Effect Faux Cils is not clumpy or gooey and the applicator is a dream making this an enjoyable product to use. It is currently in my number 1 mascara slot for my daily go to and I have also recently taken to layering this with my Julep Length Matters Mascara when I want a more dramatic look but do not want to apply false lashes.
After deciding to skip for the month of February because I just was not into the collection I really splurged on March's Julep Maven Box which was the release of a new finish, the soft focus finish. Julep also offered a new Mystery Box option which I (of course) had to try out. Here's what I got:
I have completely mixed feelings about my box this month. I was not at all pleased with the beauty mystery box as it included NONE of the new beauty items introduced this month. For the March collection, Julep introduced a line of six lipsticks, an invisible lip liner, a liquid eyeliner pen, and an eye makeup remover pen so you can understand my disappointment when not one of these items was included in the featured beauty mystery box. The items in this box more closely mirror what is included in monthly mystery boxes where you know you may be getting products from past lines. I did not think a Maven box would include all past line items. I was not necessarily expecting all new items but it would have been nice to have at least one beauty item that was released that month. I will probably be gifting most if not all of these items. I do love the Gel Eye Gliders from Julep, just not really interested in Olive right now. Moving on to the brighter spot of March...
I decided to splurge on add-ons this month since I liked the polish offerings and wanted to try the beauty mystery as my main box. The new soft focus finish is a semi-matte that I was very excited to try. Overall I like the colors I chose to add-on and with the disappointment from my beauty mystery box I am happy I did not pass up on getting some polish. I do wish they would stop giving out Francis though.
March at Birchbox is all about getting creative, from the mix and match box tops and bottoms to the items sampled the goal was to get subscriber's creative juices flowing. Included in my box this month:
After a slightly off month Birchbox has come back to greatness with my March box! I should probably admit that I am a hair and makeup (specifically lip products) junkie. I have been wishing endlessly for the Mirenesse Glossy Kiss crayon to magically appear in my box and this month BAM! there it was. It is another good neutral color for me also so I was overjoyed to add it to my collection. The color payout is great and it is very moisturizing on the lips. I was equally overjoyed to see another amika product in my box. Birchbox turned me into an amika lover in December when I sampled the Perk Up Dry Shampoo so I knew I would love the Bombshell Blowout Spray just as much. I blow out my hair pretty frequently which is why I am always trying to find the best hair products. I have found that the ingredients in amika's line agree nicely with my naturally curly hair and always leave my hair feeling great! I am planning to use my points to buy some more amika products and give them a try.
The other contents of my box included crowd favorite Supergoop! which I have been waiting to try. Sadly, instead of the sunscreen that I hear everyone rave about I received the anti-aging eye cream which is not as exciting since I am not a big eye cream person. I will most likely be passing this to my mom or my aunt and keep hoping for a sunscreen in one of my summer boxes. The Key West Moisturizer has a great scent and feels very nice on my skin. I currently keep it at my desk. The Beekind shampoo will most likely be going into my sample jar that I keep in my guest restroom. I have a shampoo I am in love with right now and I just cannot bring myself to stray to something different yet.

Birchbox's February theme is friendship and what better way to celebrate friendship than with a box full of goodies that you can share with a friend (but of course only the things you do not want to keep for yourself). This month's box included:
My hands down favorite in this box is the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. I am so happy this was included in my box and it is full size! I use it mostly for top lines. It goes on great over shadow or solo on my lid. I will be buying this in the future!
As for the rest of my box, it was okay but not as exiting as the last few months (bummer). I like Gilchrist and Soames products so it is nice to have another but it is not replacing my Whish Body Butter from last month's box in my purse just yet. The Clean Skin is a nice crisp scent which really goes with the scent profile I usually lean towards so it is a good addition to my perfume collection. The Harvey Prince Shampoo and Conditioner will be going to my friend (see putting that Friendship theme to use) as I am not a superfan of the scent. It is an okay scent, just not one I'm in love with and want my hair to smell like. One of my friends will enjoy it and I'm happy to bring a smile to someone else's face.
While not as exciting as some of my most recent boxes this was still a good Birchbox month and this is still my favorite subscription. If you would like to join me on Birchbox you can join using my referral link.
It is 2015 and Birchbox is starting the year off with a Let's Do This! Theme. I am excited to hear a rumor that we will have a different designed box for the whole year. I have been collecting the decorated boxes and use them for storage in my apartment. Here's what was in my box:
My favorite product this month was a tie between the Manna Kadar Lip Locked and the Paula's Choice RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster. I have been hoping to get Lip Locked in my box for a few months now and I am happy to finally have it in my hands. The color is a nice blush pink which works well as a neutral for me. The container is also super cute and portable. I had not heard of Paula's Choice prior to receiving this sample but clearly Birchbox knows exactly what I need. This oil booster is so smooth and non-greasy, it was the perfect antidote for my dry skin caused by the harsh winter air. The best thing about this oil booster is that you can use it alone or you can add it to your moisturizer for an extra boost. I like it alone but I did also try it in my plain Jergen's Original lotion.
Of the other samples in my box this month one was a smaller version of a product I received when I was selected through the Birchbloggers network to try, the Curl Keeper Gel. I have previously reviewed this product HERE and encourage to take a look at my thoughts on both Original and Gel Curl Keeper Products. I like Whish Products so it was nice to receive the Lavender Body Butter in my box. I currently have it in my purse and it is a perfect travel moisturizer. Lastly (but not least) I received an organic nail polish remover from Karma. As you can tell from my other entries I really, really like nail polish so it was nice to try a remover that not only works but is also organic and does not mess up my natural nails.
I am currently on a Birchbox winning streak and I hope it continues next month. I have been receiving box after box of great products that fit exactly with what I need. I am so excited I picked this subscription back up and as always if you would like to join me please subscribe using my referral link. Fingers crossed for another great box next month!
